I Found Another Vintage Quilt I Like So Decided To Make One Like It

I have hundreds of three inch nine patches.  I decided to make a nine patch zigzag like a vintage one I saw.     So far I've made these four columns. They are too long to show you the whole piece which is queen-sized so here's a snippet.  This is easier to make than I thought so I'm hoping to have a quilt top in no time especially if I add a column a day.

I love making nine patches - I save so much of my scraps they are so easy to turn into these type of quilts - this design you have with the zigzag black is great

It's hard to beat a simple design! I love the zig-zag setting.

How are the solids pieced? My mind can't grasp the twists and turns.

My thought exactly. How is the solid fabric pieced (the zigzag)

This is a neat design! Do you strip piece your 9 patches, or cut up all the little squares? My 1.5" strips need a hair cut so I'm pondering ways to use them...

Another amazing quilt appearing like a rabbit out of a hat! You never cease to astonish me, Cathy! I hope you tell us how many small 9 patches are in the finished quilt.

I am a big fan of nine patches too. Your quilt is making up nicely, hope you can get a picture of the entire quilt when it is done.

I have long admired quilts with this type of zig zag setting, but I've never been able to figure out how to do it. Your picture tells the story! I can see the seam line in the solids. So, instead of needing to use partial seams, I can just set my 9 patches on point with the solids as setting triangles! This is brilliant! ! ! ! ! Thanks so much for the photo.

I love 9-patches and this looks like fun with all the different colors. Looking forward to seeing this finished.

Nine patches are classic and the zig zag is clever.
I recognize the sun flower fabric in one of the nine patches, I made a nine
patch quilt using fabric like that mixed with large sunflower print and solid
golds and greens.
